No. 437 English Hybrid Meeting

Date: From 2 P.M. to 4 P.M. on September 10, 2022

Today’s hybrid meeting was a bit different from our usual hybrid meetings in that we made it an evaluation-centered meeting in order to prepare and assess our readiness for an Evaluation Contest which is supposed to be held this autumn. Evaluated by multiple evaluators and from their insightful and unique perspectives, both Table Topic speakers and Prepared Speech speakers were able to receive a lot of good pointers, thus providing them with room for improvement. Naturally, this valuable input leads to higher degrees of motivation for their next speech.

[Table Topic Section]

The theme of the section on the day was about “decisions.” Several Table Topic Speakers were given questions by the Table Topic Master, they, in turn answered the questions, developing their own stories on the spot.

The most different aspect of today’s meeting compared with our usual meetings was that we had one Table Topic Evaluator evaluating each Table Topic Speaker, whereas we typically have just one Table Topic Evaluator (TTE) for all Table Topic Speakers (TTS). This one TTE to one TTS ratio made it possible for each speaker to be evaluated more specifically than usual.

[Prepared Speech Section]

There were three prepared speakers on the day; however, we had two evaluators per prepared speaker at today’s meeting, compared with one evaluator per prepared speaker at regular meetings. Their evaluation provided us with useful information to consider for future prepared speeches for both speakers and audience.
