#364 English Meeting

#364 Regular Meeting was another remarkable one!

Before the meeting, TMOD AK-san emailed all the members and asked to give a standing ovation to every speaker. (We members all loved this idea and actually did it from start to the end!)

In the business session, we had an induction ceremony for KI-san. In her induction speech, she said that she liked Musako’s warm atmosphere and welcoming mood. She was of-course well accepted by the club with a standing ovation. Next came budget request by our trustful accountant MN-san. She explained that only the deviation from last year would be the budget for the 15th anniversary for 60,000 yen. Neither discussion nor opposition was raised from the floor. The budget was approved.

Under the unique theme “panda”, TM Otsubo showed a cute picture of panda and picked a speaker to make a story out of it. (She could only show 3 pictures due to time constraints. I really wanted to see the rest of pictures!)

<<Prepared Speeches>>

- KF-san started his talk by explaining a TV show. In the show, all the species in a pond were classified to alien species and Japanese species. Having been an “alien" in China, he had a mixed feeling toward the show.

- YS-san unveiled the story behind his perfect native English pronunciation. He also expressed his determination to continue to come to Musako.

- KS-san shared useful idea called Emotional Intelligence. He found the word from TM Magazine. (Toastmasters Magazine is not trash but a treasure... that’s another lesson I learned from his speech!)

- TK-san talked about her shocking experience that she had gone through when she backpacked in India. (The phrase “Omaeno Ka-chan debeso” was too catchy to forget…)
